The ALF (Annual Loss Factor) method is an aid to the thermal design of houses. It is presented in a step-by-step format providing a simple method of calculating the energy performance of conventional New Zealand houses.
In 2001 AFL3 won the "Highly Commended Energy Wise Award" from the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA). Available in either hard copy or PC format.
ALF3 is an alternative solution for determining the Building Performance Index (BPI), which can be used to show compliance with the Energy Efficiency Clause H1 of the New Zealand Building Code. The software also calculates compliance with the Schedule and the Calculation Methods of NZS 4218:1996.
